Company Overview:
Our client is a UK-based company owned by a well-established engineering group headquartered in Missouri, USA. The company specializes in delivering a comprehensive range of high-quality products that support and enhance injection moulding operations. As part of its strategic expansion into the European market, the company is opening a new start-up office in Bergamo, Italy. This office will serve as a key hub to support the existing distributor network, expand market presence, and drive direct sales.

Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and well-organized European Sales Manager to lead the launch and growth of their new European operations. This strategic role will be pivotal in establishing a strong market presence and driving long-term, sustainable growth across the region. Operating initially as a standalone position, the successful candidate will work in close partnership with the company’s established Italian distributor, while receiving ongoing commercial and operational support from the UK headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage the European start-up office based in Bergamo, Italy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a strategic sales plan to drive growth across European markets.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing distributors and identify, evaluate, and onboard new distribution partners in untapped European territories.
  • Develop and maintain direct customer relationships to complement and expand beyond the distributor network.
  • Deliver ongoing product training and commercial support to distributors, enabling them to achieve their sales objectives.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, exhibitions, and client meetings throughout Europe.
  • Maintain close coordination with the UK head office through regular communication, reporting, and participation in in-person meetings and joint sales visits.
  • Travel frequently across Europe by car and air, depending on business needs.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Several years of successful sales experience, ideally within the injection moulding industry or a closely related manufacturing sector.
  • Solid technical understanding of the injection moulding process and related equipment.
  • Demonstrated track record in business development and managing distributor networks across multiple European markets.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Fluency in both Italian and English is essential; proficiency in additional European languages is highly advantageous.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively throughout Europe as required by the role.
  • Availability to complete initial product training in both the UK and the USA to gain comprehensive technical and commercial knowledge.
